WELLNESS CONNECTION · MedicalProject Transformation Winner: Kasi BeutelJune 28, 2010 - 3:00PM![]() Kasi Beutel, one of our Project Transformation winners from Newbury Park, California, is similar in many ways to a comic book superhero. By day she is a soccer mom, taking care of her three young children. By night, she guards the community in the role of police officer with the city of Santa Barbara. Kasi joined the police force in 2006 after graduating from the Police Academy. Due to the demanding training she received at the Academy, she was in the best shape of her life upon commencement. Unfortunately, her health and level of fitness has since declined - a considerable danger in her particular line of work. While working the overnight shift to protect the community from intoxicated drivers, she routinely chases, physically apprehends and arrests suspects. In addition to these “routine” duties, Kasi never knows what unexpected risks or actions a suspect may take on any given night. Anticipating the known and unknown elements of her job requires a high level of physical fitness to perform at optimum levels. Kasi entered Project Transformation at California Health & Longevity Institute to get back on track to being healthy and fit enough to protect herself in her occupation. She is well on her way to accomplishing this through rigorous personal training sessions focused on strength and endurance and informational nutrition consultations to learn how to eat right, particularly on the overnight shift. During her health strategies sessions, she learns how to manage stress and how to balance work with her family life. When she completes her transformation program in October, Kasi is aiming to be in the best shape of her life for a second time, ensuring that she comes home safely to her children after every single shift.
