Increase water intake and try tea (hot or cold) and diet flavored drinks that have less than 20 calories per 8 fluid oz. 2. Check labels – don’t assume beverages that sound healthy are sugar-free. 3. A regular 12 oz. can of soda contains 40 grams of sugar (10 tsp). Remember, a teaspoon is 4 grams of sugar, so watch out for places it can hide! If 1 cup of cereal contains 18 grams of sugar; that amounts to 4.5 tsp. in one serving. Small steps lead to sustainable change. Try making just one commitment to yourself and work steadily on it until it becomes a habit.
