Nutrition Programs
REGISTERED DIETITIANS PROVIDE GUESTS WITH TOOLS FOR TRANSFORMING HEALTH THROUGH NUTRITION EDUCATION
A key pillar of California Health & Longevity Institute is nutrition education and guidance, based upon the scientific evidence demonstrating that certain foods may prevent many chronic diseases and promote longevity. Nutrition programs are provided by an experienced team of registered dietitians with more than 45 combined years of expertise, led by Director of Nutrition Paulette Lambert. Nutrition experiences include personal counseling, group workshops for guests and corporations, and fun, interactive cooking classes focused on teaching guests how easy it is to create simple, healthy, delicious recipes to prepare at home. The principle that recommendations are never based on fads or popular diets is consistent through all nutrition experiences.
During individual nutrition consultations, included in many of the programs or as an a la carte option, registered dietitians work in tandem with guests to develop new perspectives on eating. Together, the guest and dietitian develop a personalized, stress-reducing healthy eating plan based upon the individual’s health history and lifestyle needs.
Wellness Kitchen
A signature experience at California Health & Longevity Institute, the Wellness Kitchen pairs fresh, nutritious food with cooking instruction and expert advice from the registered dietitian-chefs. Participants cook the dishes for the day’s menu, and then sit down to enjoy a healthy meal together with the experts. The Wellness Kitchen cooking class is also available for private programs for breakfast, lunch and dinner. For a group of friends, clients, or business executives, the Nutrition Challenge Wellness Kitchen is a hands-on experience combining fun competition and team-building with nutrition education. Groups are divided into teams where they prepare healthy, delicious entrees and present to a panel of judges who rate them based on nutritional components and taste.
Nutrition Workshops
Workshops regarding a variety of nutrition themes are available on a weekly basis for guests centered around subjects such as “Navigating the Grocery Store,” “Mindful Eating: Reconnecting with Your Body,” and the “Truth About Weight.” Also available for corporate or private groups, nutrition workshops convey key messages and strategies for improving nutrition on both personal and organizational levels. “Chronic Disease Prevention through Nutrition” is a series of three programs that examine the most common chronic diseases which are the leading causes of death and are the most costly health care problems: Coronary Heart Disease, Cancer, and Diabetes. “Breakfast for Performance” instills participants with the benefits of eating the most important meal of the day as well as provides simple recipes to implement into an active lifestyle on the go.
A certified diabetic educator with more than 20 years of experience in private practice, Ms. Lambert is also available for keynote presentations for organizations. Topics include “Strategies for Healthy Eating,” which teaches participants effective and practical methods to improve health through nutrition. They are taught to prioritize basic principles of healthy eating in a “show and tell” format. Following the lecture, a luncheon buffet allows guests to practice these new strategies, with tips and feedback from the Dietitian who is also available for questions during the meal. Participants depart with educational materials.
