Terry Schaack, M.D.
Medical Director

Dr. Terry Schaack has devoted his medical career to the highest levels of patient care and cutting-edge medical research. For more than 15 years, Dr. Schaack was in private practice, providing primary and preventive care to patients in Southern California. He maintains hospital privileges at St. John’s Health Center in Santa Monica, California where he was recently elected secretary of the medical staff. Before going into private practices, Dr. Schaack served as a hospital intensivist and as a Director of Emergency Services. At California Health & Longevity Institute, Inc. he is a Medical Director.

After completing his undergraduate degree at the University of Rochester, New York, Dr. Schaack received his medical education at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. Additionally, he trained in internal medicine at Ohio State University and did sub-specialty training in Rheumatology at UCLA. Currently, Dr. Schaack is the primary investigator for a National Genetics Institute study on DNA breakdown and repair. Dr. Schaack received a Senior Rheumatology Scholar Award by the American College of Rheumatology and in 2006 he was nominated as one of the “Best Doctors in America.”

Jonathan R. Cole, M.D.

Dr. Jonathan Cole, a board-certified internist, comes to the California Health & Longevity Institute, Inc. with extensive experience in the areas of preventive and internal Medicine. As Medical Director, he provides a 360 degree approach to patient health and wellness with an emphasis on preventive medicine so that patients live better, longer. Before joining California Health & Longevity Institute, Inc., Cole was a clinical instructor at the prestigious University of Southern California, Keck School of Medicine, with responsibility for teaching medical students the art of history-taking and physical diagnosis. During his career, he also served as the Vice President of Medical Staff for Saint John’s Health Center, where he was recently elected by the medical staff to the hospital’s Executive Board.

A graduate of the University of California, San Diego, Dr. Cole holds degrees in Biology and English Literature. He attended the Chicago Medical School, where he graduated with highest honors in the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. His medical training in internal medicine was completed at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas as well as the Texas Medical Center, where he received the award for “Most Outstanding Resident in Primary Care.”

Philip Barr, M.D.

With over two decades of clinical experience, Dr. Philip Barr has developed a medical philosophy that integrates internal and mind/body medicines. Dr. Barr is devoting his full-time clinical practice to patients at California Health & Longevity Institute, Inc. where he focuses on rebalancing a patient’s health in a proactive manner. Using a team approach, Dr. Barr brings together complementary modalities that address a patient as a “whole person” for true optimal health and wellness.

Dr. Barr graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a B.A. in biology. His medical training is from the University of Maryland, where he received honors in family medicine, and he completed his internal medicine training at the University of Massachusetts. At Harvard Medical School, Dr. Barr was selected for a prestigious research fellowship in behavioral cardiology and mind/body medicine. Dr. Barr deepened his medical approach with a master’s degree in Spiritual Psychology from the University of Santa Monica. Upon graduation, he joined the USM faculty. Dr. Barr’s career has included providing care on multiple Native American reservations, serving as medical director at Boulder Community Hospital in Colorado, clinical faculty appointment at the University of Colorado, and serving on the physician staff at Canyon Ranch in Tucson, Arizona.

Lisa Vasak, M.D.Barr

Dr. Lisa Vasak has extensive experience in preventive medicine and women’s health issues. Currently, she is chief of the Department of Medicine at St. John’s Health Center in Santa Monica, California. In her role at California Health & Longevity Institute, Inc., Dr. Vasak performs complete history and physical exams. She also counsels patients on the diagnosis and treatment of any medical conditions and lays the foundation for healthy lifestyle choices.

Dr. Vasak holds a Bachelor of Science degree in kinesiology from UCLA and her medical degree is from New York Medical College. Following graduation, she completed her internship and residency in internal medicine at St. Mary’s Medical Center, a UCLA affiliate program in Long Beach, California. Previously, she was associate clinical professor of medicine at UCLA, a vice president of the fifth District of the Los Angeles County Medical Association and a member of the physician staff for the 1999 Women’s Soccer World Cup. Towne and Country magazine has named Dr. Vasak as one of the Top 500 Primary Care Physicians in the U.S.

Robert Alan Princenthal, M.D.

Dr. Robert Princenthal is the Medical Director of the Imaging Department for California Health & Longevity Institute, Inc. Dr. Princenthal is a board certified radiologist and a Diplomate of the American Board of Radiology. An honors graduate of Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine, Dr. Princenthal went on to receive his M.D. from Penn State University, College of Medicine in Hershey, PA. His residency was in Diagnostic Radiology at Yale University of Medicine, and following that he completed a post doctoral fellowship at the University of California, San Diego in CT-Ultrasound Interventional Angiography.

Dr. Princenthal is a member of the National Board of Medical Examiners, the Radiologic Society of North America and the Los Angeles Radiology Society.

Josephine Lee, M.D.

Specializing in diagnostic radiology at California Health & Longevity Institute, Inc., Dr. Lee was selected for a fellowship at UCSD Medical Center under the guidance of Dr. Donald Resnick, author of the most comprehensive musculoskeletal radiology text available in the world today. Dr. Lee has written for numerous related publications, and for many of the industry’s professional societies.

Roy Gottlieb, D.O.

Dr. Gottlieb has served as Assistant Program Director of Radiology Residency at Bethesda Naval Hospital, and as Assistant Professor for the Department of Radiology at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Services. He is also an active member of the North American Society of Cardiac Imaging, and the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography.

Bernard Gero, M.D.

Steven Tan, M.D. MTOM, Lac

Dr. Steven Tan is the Director of Complementary and Alternative Medicine for the California Health & Longevity Institute, Inc. Dr. Tan is one of the country’s most comprehensively trained integrative physicians, and he has the rare distinction of holding medical degrees and board certification in both western and eastern medicine. A graduate of the UCLA School of Medicine and the UCLA Internal Medicine Residency Program, he is board certified in internal medicine. Dr. Tan completed his Oriental medical degree and internship at Emperor’s College in Los Angeles. While studying in China, he completed an externship in acupuncture and herbal medicine at the prestigious Hong Kong Baptist University Hospital.

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger appointed Dr. Tan to the California Acupuncture Board, where he currently serves as chairman. As an associate faculty member for the UCLA Center for Integrative Medicine, Dr. Tan researches stress and integrative medicine. He previously served on the external board of advisors to the UCLA Center for Human Nutrition and Dietary Supplements Research.

She studied International Health at the University of California Berkeley before completing her Master's degree in Traditional Oriental Medicine at Emperor's College in Santa Monica and Five Branches Institute in Santa Cruz. Her skills include acupuncture and eastern herbal medicine guidance to treat a wide range of health conditions and to promote wellness. Throughout her career, Christina has pursued special training in fertility acupuncture (having studied under Randine Lewis, L.Ac.) as well as addiction, pain, stress and orthopedic disorders. She has extensive experience in integrative medical communities, having worked at the Venice Family Clinic, physical therapy centers, and substance abuse treatment facilities.

Savin, author of “Reclaiming Your Health with Self-Healing” and “Reclaiming Your Power,” is the Clinical Hypnotherapist and Healing Touch Specialist for California Health & Longevity Institute, Inc. Her goal at California Health & Longevity Institute, Inc. is to help people through the use of preventive and natural health care methods. Barbara has many years of clinical experience as a natural healthcare practitioner. She is educated as a Gentle Energy Touch master/teacher, a certified Reiki master/teacher, a Magnified Healing master/teacher, a pranic psychotherapy practitioner, a healing touch practitioner, and a visualization and meditation instructor and is a certified clinical hypnotherapist. Previously, Barbara owned her own successful vitamin and supplement distribution company, and she also worked for Blue Cross and Roosevelt Hospital in New York City. As a regional sales director with General Nutrition Center, she won “Regional Director of the Year” for three consecutive years.

Barbara is a member of the National Guild for Hypnotherapists, the American Board of Hypnotherapy and the International Association of Counselors and Therapists. She is currently working toward certification in emotional freedom technique.

Dr. Stan Golden is widely recognized as one of the country’s leading dentists. In private practice in the Brentwood area of Los Angeles for over 20 years, Dr. Golden is responsible for many of the beautiful smiles seen in film and television.

At California Health & Longevity Institute, Inc. Dr. Golden uses his expertise to focus on cosmetic dentistry, dental implants, TMJ function as well as full-mouth reconstruction. His goal is to help prolong the quality of a patient’s life by maintaining and improving dental health through the use of comprehensive dental care. Dr. Golden attended the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis for his undergraduate and his dental degrees. Following graduation, he volunteered for the dental corps of the United States Air Force, serving as a captain for two years.

Ronald Moy, M.D.

As Director of Dermatology for California Health & Longevity Institute, Inc., Dr. Ronald Moy employs all the latest proven methods to rejuvenate skin and make it look younger. His goal is to teach patients how to detect and prevent aging skin and skin cancers, as well as to use non-invasive new techniques—including the latest laser technology—in treating the skin.

Board certified in dermatology, Dr. Moy was elected to the 2007-2008 Best Doctors in America, a database distinction that is determined by his clinical peers. He received his medical degree from Albany Medical College and completed his residency program at UCLA. A Professor at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, Dr. Moy has also been president of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, past president of the Pacific Dermatology Association and Editor-in-Chief of Dermatologic Surgery. Currently, he is on the Board of Directors for the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and the American Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery. Dr. Moy has published over 200 journal articles and recently wrote several textbooks about the subjects of cosmetic surgery, blepharosplasty and facelift textbooks.

K. Wade Foster, MD, PhD

Dr. Wade Foster is a board certified dermatologist with specialties in procedural dermatology, including Mohs surgery and facial reconstruction, laser surgery and noninvasive facial rejuvenation. At the California Health and Longevity Institute, Dr. Foster works closely with patients to match the most current medical treatments with their skin care needs.

Dr. Foster is a graduate of the Medical Scientist Training Program at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine, where he also completed his residency training in dermatology. A member of the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, Dr. Foster is also the author of more than 25 publications. He has extensive training with vascular lasers, tattoo lasers as well as non-invasive fractional lasers for facial rejuvenation such as Botox and injectable dermal fillers.

Sleep Medicine

Paul B. Haberman, M.D.
Director of Sleep Medicine Program

Dr. Haberman started Internal Medicine training at Georgetown Medical Division in Washington D.C. His training was interrupted by two years of military service, including one year in Viet Nam. On returning, he completed his training at UCLA in Westwood, California and a fellowship in pulmonary medicine at UCSD. He practiced pulmonary medicine in Santa Monica, California including serving as Chairman of the Department of Medicine at St. John's Hospital. He developed an interest in sleep medicine and became the director of the Sleep Disorders Laboratory at St. John's Hospital in 1992 after having completing specialty training again at Stanford University. He became boarded in Sleep Medicine in 1995. Dr. Haberman works with California Health & Longevity Institute, Inc. to offer sleep studies at Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village, the most unique sleep laboratory in the country.

Daniel Norman, M.D.

Dr. Norman has had an interest in sleep disorders from very early in his professional career, when he recognized how much of an impact good sleep can make on a person's mental and physical health. After residency training in Internal Medicine, he completed a fellowship in Sleep Medicine, both at Harvard School of Medicine's Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. He then completed an additional fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at UCSD Medical Center. Dr. Norman returned to the Los Angeles area, and started clinical practice in Sleep Medicine. He is triple-board certified in Internal Medicine, Sleep Medicine, and Pulmonary Medicine. His academic excellence was recognized by his election to Alpha Omega Alpha and the National Dean's List. Dr. Norman has maintained his academic credentials by participating in numerous sleep studies, lecturing at UCLA, and authoring over 18 abstracts, book chapters, and articles in peer review journals. At California Health & Longevity Institute, Inc., he and Dr. Haberman read all the sleep studies, and develop programs to help people manage their sleep-related issues.
